The Fourth Annual New Hampshire
Allstate Art Festival

Friday and Saturday, April 12-13, 2002
The New Hampshire Allstate Art Festival unites high school juniors of exceptional artistic potential with professional artists, in an intense two-day collaborative studio experience. The students work in small groups and develop a single work of art inspired by the collection of the Currier Gallery of Art. Each year, the festival closes with a public reception and exhibition of the students' work. College representatives are on hand to provide information about higher education and careers in the art field.

Allstate Art Festival Art teachers from all over New Hampshire nominate students for the program. Each year, approximately 60 students are chosen to participate, through a competitive review process conducted by a panel of art educators. The student applicants must submit recommendations, slides of their work, an essay and a student profile questionnaire. Personal interviews complete the selection process.

Student applications must be postmarked by December 7, 2001. No late submissions will be accepted.

This festival is organized and sponsored by the Currier Gallery of Art and endorsed by the New Hampshire Art Educators Association and the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.

If you are a high school art educator and have not received a nomination packet, please contact Kris Bullock at artallstate@currier.org or call 669-6144, ext. 124. You may also contact Kris if you are an artist and are interested in applying to be an artist-mentor, or if you have general questions about the Allstate Art Festival.

School Programs

Outreach Programs
If time and schedule permits, a museum educator may be available to do an introductory slide presentation at your school prior to the students' visit to the museum. Outreach presentations are available to those schools located within a 20-mile radius of the museum. The fee for an outreach presentation is $20 in addition to any museum visitation charges and can be paid before or at the time of the museum tour.

Student Docent Program
Each year, the museum works with a selected group of middle school students from the Manchester area, training them to give tours of the museum's collections to their peers, as well as to the public.

School Vacation Programs
School vacation "Art Camps," held at the Currier Art Center, provide children of all ages with a creative and fun learning experience. The museum also hosts special performances during school vacation weeks throughout the year.

Lunchroom Facilities
The museum does have lunchroom facilities for school groups. Since these facilities are not always available, please let museum staff know in advance if you plan to bring lunch.
