Bring some paper and a pencil (pencils only, please) and come draw in the Currier galleries on a winter Saturday. One of New Hampshire's finest art educators will get you started and give advice and encouragement.

The Boston-area choral ensemble Blue Heron has created a special program to welcome back the Currier's Flemish tapestry, featuring Franco-Flemish music circa 1500, including the works of Josquin, Isaac, Obrecht, and Ockeghem.

Following the performance of Blue Heron, Dr. Kurt Sundstrom of the Currier's curatorial staff will present a short talk on the Currier's tapestry, The Visit of the Gypsies, (Franco-Flemish, c. 1490).

Etching by Freed Saturday, March 30
1:00 - 4:00 p.m. - Printmaking Demonstration
Free with admission
Rick Freed, painter and printmaker, will create an etching and demonstrate the printing process. Currently a member of the Currier Art Center faculty, Mr. Freed recently completed the large indoor mural at the Millyard Museum. This demonstration will be of interest to all ages; stop by anytime in the afternoon to ask questions and watch.

in Germany and the Netherlands

Suzanne Boorsch, guest curator of the exhibition The Print in the North: The Age of Albrecht Dürer and Lucas van Leyden for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, will lecture on these artists. Ms. Boorsch is the Curator of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs at the Yale University Art Gallery.

New Hampshire Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Veronica Kadlubkiewicz (pictured on right) returns to the Currier with a new piano trio, featuring Roberta Cooper, cello, and Anne Koscielny, piano. The Avero Trio will be performing three Beethoven piano trios.

"Food for the Mind and the Body: The Renaissance Era in Northern Europe" features Currier assistant curator Kurt Sundstrom speaking on the symbolism in Renaissance-era etchings, engravings and woodcuts, as well as a presentation by Lou Greenstein, Culinary Historian and Director of Auxiliary Services at Southern New Hampshire University, who will describe the food and drink of the era.
